Each module varies in length with a combined time of over 12 hours of instruction/demonstrations/interviews/resources. When I first envisioned this course I wanted it to be the course that I would have loved to take when I was first pregnant 17 years ago! With that in mind, I brought together my knowledge gathered through my years serving families as a doula and then later as a childbirth educator. It was really important to me to create a course that felt like we were sitting in a living room and having thoughtful and practical ideas presented in a warm and inviting manner. I am excited to meet you!
First off, thank-you for taking the time to connect with the kinship community! We are thrilled that you are visiting us and possibly, potentially inviting us into your support circle! We are honoured! Second, and most importantly, this childbirth course will equip you with the tools you will need to overcome any fear of birthing and create opportunities for the experience to feel empowering, while giving your partner the practical skills to support you. Throughout the course we explore informed choice and non-medical comfort techniques for labour to support and affirm women as powerful birth givers! We dive into the physiologic birth/breastfeeding processes so that by understanding them we can gain confidence and trust in our own bodies which creates a positive and affirming view of birth. I love Marie Morgan's quote. When you change the way you view birth, the way you birth will change.
