You’re almost halfway! You’ve had so many sweet weeks to bond with your baby and develop a connection. As this bond grows, so can anxiety about the wellness of your baby. It is hard, especially in these weeks before viability, when the pregnancy is more visible, but movements aren’t always palpable, to not feel anxious about whether your baby is okay. This strong motherly desire to protect your baby and know if she is well is a natural and beautiful inclination. However, many things in pregnancy are out of your control, so it may be helpful to instead focus on what is within your control: the food that you are fueling your body with, the activity you are doing, or the moments of rest you are prioritizing. Additionally, be open with others about your feelings and start equipping yourself with coping strategies to work through these feelings. Whether deep breathing exercises, a warm bath with dimmed lighting, soothing music, or spending time in nature, find techniques that work well for you! Techniques that you can use throughout pregnancy and labour.

Your baby is 19 weeks! Though your baby is fairly developed, she is still very fragile. The thickened uterine muscle and replenishing amniotic fluid both help to protect your baby from external forces. This amniotic fluid also gives your baby the freedom to move and change positions in the womb. She is kicking, rolling and punching in that fluid. Your baby is growing stronger and more coordinated by the day!
