Week 20: Livin’ on a Prayer
Size Comparison : Rose Bloom
Length : 17cm
Weight : 300g
Congratulations Mama! You are now halfway to your due date! This is such a huge achievement! Reflect back on where you’ve been and allow your resiliency in this journey to empower and encourage you to continue on! This week, you should start feeling more distinct movements and kicks from your baby. Offer for your partner to feel the kicks and movements! This is a great way to bring them into the experience and help them to bond with their baby too. At your healthcare visits, they will now start measuring your tummy to make sure your baby is growing at a normal rate. Each week, your tummy should grow a centimeter to match the new week. This week, your tummy should be 20 centimeters! Other than feeling movements, you’re potentially also eagerly anticipating your detailed ultrasound (If you choose to have one). This ultrasound can identify the gender of your baby, as well as allow you to see your baby’s silhouette more clearly. You’ll see the outline of the hands, feet, and face. You will even be able to visualize your baby’s heart beating!
Your baby is 20 weeks and is not only getting stronger but is developing more physical characteristics. He is growing hair, eyelashes, and eyebrows. On your ultrasound, you will be able to see his well-defined facial features! The outline of your baby’s nose, chin, and forehead will give you a sneak peek of what your little one will look like at birth. You will also see the gender of your baby, though some may choose to keep it a surprise!
