Welcome to week 30! You are now three-quarters of the way to your due date! You got this! Push yourself to keep moving and stretching, as you will thank yourself for this later! Women’s experience in pregnancy varies dramatically, but all women experience some sort of pain and discomfort in their third trimester. Leg cramps can occur while lying down because of nerve compression. Hip pain is very common as the hormones causing your pelvis to open up and make room for your baby in labour can cause strain to be placed on other ligaments and muscles. Keeping these joints, muscles and ligaments moving throughout the day is essential to prepare your body for labour! Gentle low-impact exercise, massage, acupuncture, balanced periods of rest and warm baths are ways you can help relieve this discomfort. Find strategies that work for you and help you cope with the discomfort.
Your baby is now 30 weeks! She is steadily becoming more interactive. Your baby is starting to regulate sleep better by establishing a sleep cycle with wake windows. These wake windows will change as your baby grows. Still, you will notice more activity in some hours of the day than others as your baby moves from active and awake to calm and sleepy. You may also notice, as you get to know your baby better each day, that her wake and sleep windows correlate with your daily rhythms and movements–often more awake when you are resting and more sleepy while you are active.
